Homemade Apple Fritters

These classic fritters are golden, aromatic with cinnamon, and loaded with real apple in every bite — crisp outside, soft and tender inside.

Ingredients

2 medium apples; 2 eggs; 150 ml milk; 200 g all-purpose flour; 50 g sugar; 1 tsp baking powder; 1 tsp ground cinnamon; 1 tsp lemon juice; a pinch of salt; 1 tsp vanilla (optional). For frying and finishing: oil for frying, 3 tbsp sugar mixed with 1 tsp cinnamon.

Method

Peel, core, and finely dice the apples; toss with lemon juice. Whisk eggs and sugar, add milk and vanilla, then fold in sifted flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt to a thick batter. Stir in the apple and rest 5–10 minutes. Fry spoonfuls in oil at about 170–175°C in small batches, 2–3 minutes per side, until deep golden. Drain on kitchen paper, then coat while warm in the cinnamon sugar. Serve fresh, with honey or melted chocolate if you like.

Tips

Do not overmix the batter; keep the oil steady so they cook through; small fritters cook most evenly.
